Bob Dylan, the 66 year-old folk singer who was booed offstage for playing his electric guitar at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, has won a special citation from the Pulitzer Board citing “his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power.”

Dylan, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, is the winner of numerous Grammy awards, including a lifetime achievement award. Dylan also won the 2000 Academy Award and Golden Globe award for best original song for Things Have Changed from the film Wonder Boys.

The greatest living poet has finally been recognized for his brillance. From his very first songs to his newest each is a reason to celebrate. Thank you for finally honoring a truly great poet and spokesmen for so many generations.
