Bill and Hillary Clinton disagree on Colombia free trade issue

Just when the campaign of Hillary Clinton thought they had the Colombian free trade debacle behind it comes this - Bill Clinton supports the bilateral agreement being pushed through congress by the Bush administration, which Hillary Clinton opposes.

Quinnipiac pollster calls Penn. Gov. Ed Rendell, a Hillary Clinton supporter

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell was relaxing around his house last weekend when the phone rang. On the other end of the line was a pollster from the Quinnipiac University poll looking to get his opinions about the upcoming April 22nd Democratic presidential primary between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Rendell, a supporter and fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, was one of 1,340 likely Democratic voters polled in the state from April 3rd to the 6th.

Jackie Speier wins California Congressional seat with over 75% of vote

Jackie Speier is heading back to Washington, but this time it will be as a Congresswoman Speier and not as a congressional aide. Speier, a Democrat from Burlingame, was an aide to former Rep. Leo Ryan who was killed in Jonestown in 1978. She is a Jonestown survivor who was shot five times and left for dead during the massacre.

New poll shows Barack Obama cutting into lead of Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania

A new poll released today by Quinnipiac University shows Hillary Clinton’s lead slipping in Pennsylvania - even among women. Clinton leads Barack Obama by 50% to 44% among likely primary voters. Less than a week earlier, in an April 2nd poll by the university, Clinton was leading Obama by 50% to 41%.

Jackie Speier is the favorite to win Tom Lantos’ congressional seat

Jackie Speier is favored to win the congressional seat held by her old boss, Leo Ryan who was killed in the Jonestown massacre in 1978. Speier, who herself was shot five times and left for dead in Jonestown, is a former California state Senator and Assemblywoman.

Mark Penn quits Hillary Clinton’s campaign over Colombia trade flap

Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, Maggie Williams, issued a statement on Sunday saying that Mark Penn was leaving the campaign in his role as chief strategist following a weekend of controversy that erupted after his meeting with the Colombian ambassador to talk about trade issues. In the two sentence statement, issued on the campaign’s web site, Williams said, “After the events of the last few days, Mark Penn has asked to give up his role as Chief Strategist of the Clinton Campaign; Mark, and Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates, Inc. will continue to provide polling and advice to the campaign.”

Ed Rendell hints Mark Penn should be fired from Hillary Clinton’s campaign

In an appearance on Meet the Press on Sunday, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell was asked by Tim Russert if he thought the Clinton campaign should “fire Mark Penn?” Rendell’s responded, in what appeared to be a nervous smile on his face, “Well, there are a lot of issues in which you can raise that question.” He continued, “I think you’ve got to make it very clear, when you are someone who is a consultant, who you are representing and who you are not representing. And I would hope that Mr. Penn, when he talked to the Colombians, made that clear. It doesn’t sound like he did and that’s something the campaign should take into question.”
